Rural communities in southern bhutan have extracted honey from log- and wall hives attached to their homes for centuries. In contrast to the honey extracted from the domesticated apis mellifera, a. Cerana does not require any additional feed over the winter months. Authentic Bhutan expanded the network of honey suppliers from one village under tsirang district to five villages: lalikharka and gopini villages under dunglagang gewog of tsirang district and samkhara, saudalay, batasay villages of jimecholing gewog under sarpang district due to a steadily growing demand for this excellent honey. The analysis of the highly aromatic honey by a recognized honey laboratory in germany indicates that the pollen content is extraordinarily high.
