This mask is terrifying in nature and the mask dance associated with it is performed usually with a torch of light punctuated with terrifying shouts of the dancers. The main purpose of this mask dance is to ward off or chase away the lurking evil spirits around the human vicinity. The terrifying mask is quite powerful such that it is usually hung on the doors so that every individual who passes from it will be cleansed from all the defilements and the harmful spirits that lurk them will be chased away. Simply by seeing it will arouse fear in the harmful spirits and you will be rescued from their malignant curse.
The elaborately carved mask is richly decorated and painted in great detail. It shows black circles on a dark brown background enriched with golden ornaments. Short white horns, which are removable, embellish this piece of art. To enjoy the mask, it can be placed on a shelf or hung on the wall, as it has two holes at the top.
