Tribal storage and carrying basket with lid from Bhutan, mid-late 20th century Handwoven of bamboo with wood incorporated into the base and top for added strength. This strong rustic basket would have been used to store and transport household good and valuables in a Buddhist home, high in the valleys and mountains of the Bhutan. As with all baskets great patience and many long hours of preparation of materials precede the actual weaving of the piece. It is 12 inches wide by 7 inches deep by 13.5 inches tall and dates from, circa 1960 - 1970.
